Day 152- Baby Driver

Day 2 in the big brother house…. Jessica is struggling with the pox and can’t get to sleep, Lel is struggling to stay calm and continually repeat “don’t scratch” and “don’t touch your face”… 😦

So, as you can tell, today we were again confined to barracks, and poor Jess is properly suffering, stupid stupid poxy pox 😡

My original idea for this of Jess behind the wheel of the car sadly went out the window, but I did have this shot of the gorgeous Lisa and Lee. What you can’t see is the videographer diving into the back seat literally second before, he he he!

Day 151- Keep The Customer Satisfied

I didn’t get out of the house today apart from the doctors and the pharmacy, we are now on chicken pox quarantine lock down. I could have taken pictures of calamine lotion and medicine but I thought you may have had enough product shots for a while, plus  remembered this and how weird they thought I was asking them to pose.

These guys work for Tim Hortons, a large coffee brand that I was introduced to in Canada that do great doughnuts and great coffee. There’s no way I could order a “double double in a double cup” and anyone would know what the hell I was on about in a British coffee shop. Plus, Tim Hortons have drive thru, a-maz-ing!!

So tonight is for these people, for posing for a photo to keep a customer satisfied, especially considering we only bought 2 double doubles from what i can remember 🙂

Day 150- So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright

Singing along to this song in the 80’s (yes, showing my age!), it never dawned on me that Frank Lloyd Wright was an actual person, and of any real significance.

As I have got older, I learnt he was an architect, and not just the theme of a song. In fact, in 1991, well after his death, Wright was recognized by th American Institute of Architects as “the greatest American architect of all time”.

According to Wikipedia, Frank Lloyd Wright was indeed an architect, interior designer, writer and educator.  He believed in building structures that were in harmony with humanity and its environment, something the architects behind tower blocks could have learnt from!

One of Wright’s most famous buildings is the Solomon R Guggenheim Museum in New York:

I hope you have enjoyed your brief history lesson this evening, Sussex University will be happy to know that my History degree has not gone to waste 😉

Day 149- El Condor Pasa (If I Could)

The lyrics to this song are simple but great, “I’d rather be a sparrow than a snail” or “I’d rather be a hammer or a nail”. My favourite has to be “I’d rather feel the earth beneath my feet”.

I did think about a shot with my feet on the grass but then I remembered the torture us ladies (and some men 😉 ) put ourselves through in the name of foot wear. I have to admit, after a day in heels I can think of nothing better than walking barefoot on the grass.

I also find it easier to relax into a photo shoot with no shoes on and a fellow photographer (Michael Lank) tagged me in a  photo last year as Hippie No Shoes! I just find it easier than worrying about your shoes digging in and its easier to climb on things if you have bare feet, especially indoors 🙂

Day 148- Why Don’t You Write Me

This image came about for a different project, but it wasn’t until I came to edit it that I realised you could see Tinkerbell so clearly on her top, so the image was scrapped for the other project, but I thought the blank pages did fit quite nicely with tonight’s title.

Bridge Over Troubled Water won this week’s vote, and I have to say I was secretly rooting for this album so thank you to the 8 people who voted and made this lady happy, I may even be able to get through this week without dipping into the archives, no promises though.

I should be able to tell you my news tomorrow evening, all things being well, so watch this space. It isn’t directly photography related but it should have a positive impact on my photography, which can only be a good thing.

Happy Sunday folks!

Vote for this week’s album

Following on from my post earlier on in the week about treasuring your music related memories, I thought I would use 3 albums close to my heart for the memories they evoke for the vote this week.

I’m not going to share why, remember I said to protect your memories 😉 But, I hope that some of you like at least one of these albums enough to vote this week, for your own reasons.

Happy Weekend.

Day 146- The Death Of You And Me

More Lego 🙂

I have to say, I am loving finding things to do with the Lego people, I am in danger of this project going off an a full on Lego tangent. The poor couple from tonight though look as if they have seen better days!

I would suggest that Wedding season is now in full force for most wedding photographers, and with the weather getting better I am looking forward to seeing some gorgeous images popping up on my Facebook feed over the next few months from the talented photographers that I am “friends” with.

Of course, I would love to shoot a wedding with a happier ending than the Lego couple, just give me a shout if you think I would fit in with your day. I promise to leave the Lego at home 😉

Day 145- (Stranded on) the Wrong Beach

Santa Monica, 2006. Yep, it’s an old, old, old photo tonight. In fact, pre-Jessica! I’ve never really known what to do with this image and given that i have been to Leicester and back today (4 ish hours each way), by the time I got home, ate and showered, it was pretty late and I knew I had a beach shot somewhere 😉

The other reason for going to Santa Monica with tonight’s blog is that it gives me the chance to publicly congratulate my friend Matt and his wife on the birth of their twins over in sunny LA. Congratulations guys and if you want to fly me over to do some new-born pictures I’m sure I could be persuaded 🙂
