Did you know that:
-on its own, or in conjunction with other factors, alcohol is estimated to be responsible for at least 33,000 deaths in the UK each year.
-an estimated 17 million working days are lost each year due to people missing work due to the effects of alcohol.
-the harmful effects of drinking are almost entirely related to the alcohol content of what you drink, not the type of drink. In other words, beers are no safer than spirits. What matters is how much you drink.
Alcohol is a bigger problem in our society than we like to admit, many people, including myself, rely on alcohol far too much to mask problems or to relax, when in fact it is doing more harm than good. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not about to start preaching about the perils of booze, and I’m not about to give it up any time soon either, but it is worth remembering what it can do to you.
